06There is no home in the UK which has escaped the aftermath of the credit crunch and the recession and many people have slipped into financial trouble during the last two years. This is a situation which is becoming critical for many people who are struggling to obtain finance and seeing their debts creeping higher and higher. So how can we control our household bills?
In reality the vast majority of households in the UK would not be able to suggest a monthly expenditure figure if they were put on the spot. There are many of us in the UK who have never actually sat down and looked at our budgets to see how much we’re spending, where it all goes and where any potential savings can be made. There are many ways to reduce your monthly outgoings but before you can even begin to think about reducing your budget you need to know where your money is going!
It is now time to sit back and look at the luxuries which you may well have enjoyed during the boom times and see whether you can actually afford them today. Holidays, Sky TV, takeaways and other “nonessentials” may well need to be cut back in the short to medium term to allow you to consolidate your financial position. That’s not to say they will never return, but we all need to “cut our cloth accordingly”.
